Community Guidelines / Code of Conduct (KIWI Japanese)

Effective date: [2025-12-01]
These Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) apply to everyone who uses KIWI Japanese on https://kiwijapanese.com (“Platform”), including learners, instructors, staff, and visitors.

Guidelines like this exist to set clear expectations so a community stays welcoming, safe, and useful.

1) Our goal

We want KIWI Japanese to be a place where people can learn Japanese confidently, ask questions freely, and practice without fear of harassment or ridicule—regardless of background or identity.

2) Where these Guidelines apply

These Guidelines apply to behavior:

  • On the Platform (courses, comments, chat, forums, reviews, assignments, profiles)

  • In live classes (video, audio, chat)

  • In direct communication with KIWI Japanese (email/support)

  • In any community space connected to KIWI Japanese where you are representing the Platform (for example, using an official KIWI account or presenting yourself as an instructor/moderator).

3) Be excellent to each other

We expect:

  • Respectful communication (disagree without being disrespectful)

  • Constructive feedback (help people improve; avoid insults)

  • Patience (language learning is messy and that’s normal)

  • Inclusivity (make space for different cultures, accents, and learning speeds)

4) Not allowed

We do not allow:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or stalking

  • Hate speech or demeaning language targeting someone’s identity (race/ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, etc.) Mozilla+1

  • Sexual content or unwanted sexual attention

  • Doxxing (sharing private personal information) or encouraging others to do so

  • Spam, scams, or misleading promotions

  • Disrupting live lessons (trolling, repeated interruptions, hostile behavior)

  • Cheating or academic dishonesty (see Section 6)

If you’re thinking “but it was just a joke,” remember: impact beats intent.

5) Privacy and safety

  • Respect privacy: don’t share anyone’s personal details, private messages, or class information without permission.

  • Report safety concerns promptly. We treat reports seriously and aim to protect the privacy and security of people who report issues.
    Read our [Privacy Policy]

6) Academic honesty (learning integrity)

Language learning works best when the work is yours. Unless a course explicitly allows collaboration, you must not:

  • Submit someone else’s work as your own

  • Share paid course answers/solutions publicly

  • Post or sell test/quiz answers

  • Use multiple accounts to bypass restrictions or manipulate progress

We may reset scores, revoke certificates (if applicable), or suspend accounts for repeated or serious violations. (This is a common approach in learning platforms and communities.)

7) Content and intellectual property

  • Don’t upload content you don’t have the rights to share.

  • Don’t repost KIWI Japanese paid materials (videos, PDFs, worksheets) outside the Platform unless we explicitly allow it.

  • If you believe content infringes your rights, contact us and we’ll review it.

8) Live classes and recordings

  • Be on time and respectful in live sessions.

  • Do not record, screenshot, or redistribute live classes or other learners’ participation without explicit permission from KIWI Japanese and the participants.

  • Instructors/moderators may mute, remove, or block disruptive participants to protect the learning environment.

9) Reporting a problem

If you see or experience a violation, Please Report via email

Please include (if possible):

  • Your username and the other person’s username

  • Date/time and where it happened (course name, class, URL)

  • Screenshots or logs (only if safe to share)

  • A short description of what happened

We will review reports promptly and fairly, and we may request additional information.

10) Enforcement and consequences

We may take action to keep the community safe, including:

  • Content removal

  • Warnings

  • Temporary restrictions (posting, chat, live class access)

  • Temporary suspension

  • Permanent ban for serious or repeated violations

Moderators may also moderate public content that violates these Guidelines or our Terms.

11) Appeals

If you believe an action was taken in error, reply to the enforcement email with:

  • The reason you believe the decision should be reconsidered

  • Any supporting context or evidence

We’ll review and respond when possible, but final decisions are made to protect the community as a whole.

12) Updates

We may update these Guidelines to reflect new features, risks, or community needs. Updates will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
